Malaysia is a tropical country, very much like most of the countries located in Southeast Asia. The temperature can be hot throughout the year and there is a large amount of rainfall. Let me provide you a brief description of Malaysian weather and climate in the next few paragraphs.

Temperature

Just like any other tropical country, the temperature in Malaysia remains regularly hot throughout the year. There is no considerable difference between seasons, like summer and winter. Days are warm and usually humid but the nights are quite cool. The temperature also varies in different locations. At Penang, the temperatures stay close to 82F (28 C) and at Labuan the average temperature is 80F (27 C). The temperature in areas located above sea level is considerably cooler. The Cameron Highlands which are about 5000 feet (1500m) above sea level has a temperature of 64F (18 C) which is very much a good thing for foreigners.

Rainfall

The main raining season runs between Nov. and Feb. , while Aug. is considered the most humid and wettest period on the West Coast (Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang). Sabah and Sarawak have heavy rains during November to February. Rainfall, however, is heavy all year round in the country. Rainfall is heavy in the mountain areas. In the Cameroon highlands, the total annual rainfall is over 100 inches (2540 mm). No single month has less than 5 inches or 125 mm of rainfall. If you are planning on visiting a country it is important to consider the rainy months. June through August is considered the best time to visit Malaysia; this is the time when rainfall is not heavy and the temperature not so hot at only 64F or 18C.

Malaysia is a tropical country with warm weather and humid climate. Rainfall is also abundant. It is rewarding though to visit the highlands for their lush greenery.

You have to check first the Malaysian Immigration website before you do the first move to apply for Malaysian Visa. There are foreign guests that need a Visa to get to Malaysia. However, visitors that are citizens of Netherlands, Switzerland, and United States are not required for a Visa at all.

There are two types of Malaysian Visas:

Visa without reference? This visa is suitable for people who want to visit Malaysia for vacation or sight seeing.

Visa with reference? This visas are for people who want to go to Malaysia to visit relatives, attend school, conduct research, or for employment. It requires the letter of approval from the Malaysian High Commission and you are required to prepare some documentation like a letter from the employer, letter for student enrollment, and a confirmation of the paid tuition.

Documentation

You will be required of some documentation if your country is one of those whose citizens must acquire a visa to visit Malaysia. You must prepare two photocopies of each document required. You also need to submit passport sized photos, traveler’s checks, bank statements, round trip plane tickets, and a valid passport. Try to see the Department of Immigration, Malaysia website to know if there are any other documents required.

Application

You can avail the visa application forms from the Malaysian Embassy and consulates. You can also go to the internet for online application and check the immigration website in order to avail the application form. If you wish to fill out the form hand written, you better print to avoid processing delays.

Visa Extensions

The validity of most Malaysian visas would last for three months. Once expired, you have to ask for extensions to the Immigration Department. If you have visa without reference, you can apply for a two-month extension. For visa with references, the Immigration has to check if you are ill or have encountered accident.

Fees

The Malaysian Visa requires non-refundable payment of $3 US dollars. But citizens the come from India need to pay double that amount. You can avail the visa in one day processing.

If you don’t need a visa to travel Malaysia, this will make it one of your top destinations for visit and leisure.
