MATTA Fair 2010

The Matta Fair that was held at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) last March 12-14 has gathered 10,000 more visitors than last year of 70,000 who attended even in the midst of the bad economy. This has been foreseen by the chairman of the organizing committee Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun as he stated his observation during launching conducted at Lot 10 Shopping Complex.

Khalid was very confident then of the visitors’ response this year with no more worries about the second repetition wave of H1N1.

The success of Matta Fair this year was supplemented by various supporting sponsors and exhibitors that offered something special to the guests like providing the customers some extra discounts, especialy for the cardholders of EON bank card, the official card of the affair. Moreover, some of the cardholders were able to bring home special treat bags.

There were about 300 exhibitors present this year that occupied 890 kiosks in 3 halls.

This was earlier projected as international as well as local exhibitors were eagerly waiting for the go signal to process request application which was initiated last January 11 this year.

The exhibitors were coming from various countries like America, Spain, and Mexico and expected to return for this annual affair.

Those Matta members who registered earlier than January 22 were given early bird price discounted of RM500 while those who represented cruises, airlines, hotels, and others were offered discount of RM300.

It was observed further that the most well responded destinations among customers at the fair were Asian countries.

Media that covered the event were The Star, Sin Chew Daily, and Nanyang SiangPau for newspapers, and Traveller’s Digest and Escapre for magazines.
